Best guacamole recipeGuacamole is a well known Mexican dip made with avocados. It can be used as a condiment with Mexican dishes or as a dip, with tortilla chips.

Ingredients2 ripe avocados 1/2 medium red onion, finely chopped 1 serrano chile, stems and seeds removed, finely chopped 2 Tbsp cilantro (coriander) leaves, finely chopped 1 Tbsp fresh lime juice 1/2 ripe tomato, seeds and pulp removed, chopped 1/2 tsp salt or to taste Freshly ground black pepper to taste
DirectionsCut the avocados in half and remove seed. Scoop out the avocado flesh and put in a mixing bowl.
Using a fork, mash the avocado. Leave in a few chunky pieces if you want. Add the serrano chile, chopped red onion, cilantro leaves, lime juice and tomato. Season with salt and black pepper and mix well, using a spoon.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 to 3 hours. Notes and tipsTo check if an avocado is ripe, gently press the outside of the avocado. If
there is no give, the avocado is not ripe yet. If there is a little give, the avocado is just ripe. If there is a lot of
give, the avocado is probably past ripe and will not be good.

To create a guacamole dip, remove the tomatoes and add sour cream. Add all ingredients to a blender and process until smooth and creamy. Cover and refrigerate for a few hours.
To make a chunky guacamole sauce, do not mash the avocado. Instead, cut it into chucnks using a fork. Add in the rest of the ingredients and slowly mix.
A tip for keeping the avocadoes from getting brown is to put the avocado seed into the sauce. Remove the seed and discard before serving.
