Ingredients
- 2 cup hot water 480 ml hot water
- 3/4 cup chile powder (use hot, mild, or a combination, to taste) 180 ml chile powder (use hot, mild, or a combination, to taste)

Method
In a bowl pour the hot water and chile powder. Stir using a fork until a thin paste is formed. Let sit for 30 minutes.
Add the garlic, onion, cumin, sugar and chile powder in a blender. Process until smooth. Add more water if needed, to achieve the desired consistency. Taste and adjust with more salt, if needed.
Strain into a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring sauce to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
Serve hot or cool and refrigerate. The sauce can be refrigerated for about a month.
