Mexican style marinated beef (Carne Asada) recipe Mexican style beef steak, marinated in olive oil, garlic, lime and oregano, then broiled to perfection. The marinating process results in a tender, juicy beef steak that can make a delicious main dish when served on warm tortillas together with Mexican condiments such as salsa, guacamole and fried rice.

Ingredients 2 to 3 lb beef flank steaks or similar cut
12 flour tortillas
For the marinade 2 Tbsp olive oil 1/2 cup lime juice 4 cloves garlic, crushed 2 Tbsp dried oregano 2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
To serve the dish Salsa Guacamole Fried rice or baked potatoes
Directions In a bowl combine the olive oil, lime juice, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper. Mix until well blended.
Add the steaks and massage the marinade into them. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate. Marinate for at least 3 hours, turning occationally.
Set
oven to broil.
Place a rack in a broiler pan. Place the steaks on the rack and broil with the tops of the steaks at about 3
inches from the heat. Cook until brown, about 5 minutes. Turn steaks and broil
for about 5 minutes more.
Remove from the broiler and cut the steaks into thin, long strips across the grain of the
meat. Serve on top of warm flour with tortillas with guacamole, salsa and fried rice. Notes and tips The beef steaks can be grilled instead of broiled. Simply place the steaks on a grill and cook them for 6 to 7 minutes on each side, brushing them every 2 to 3 minutes with the marinade liquid. Serve as directed above, on warm tortillas with guacamole, salsa and fried rice or baked potatoes.
