Easy homemade sweet pickles recipe

This is an easy way to prepare cucumber and onion pickles a day ahead. The ingredients are covered in vinegar, water, sugar and salt, refrigerated for at least 24 hours and are ready to be used.

1 medium onion, thinly sliced
2 cucumbers, thinly sliced
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
5 Tbsp water
4 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
Freshly ground black pepper to taste


In a bowl add the onion and cucumbers. In a separate bowl add the vinegar, water, sugar, salt, and pepper and mix well until the sugar is dissolved. Pour over the onions and cucumbers, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.
