A recipe for a homemade chilli powder, easy to make, great for marinades, chillies or any Mexican or Tex-Mex dish that requires a bit of heat. You can adjust the quantity of any of the ingredients according to your liking.

Ingredients

2 tsp cayenne pepper
4 Tbsp paprika
4 tsp dried oregano
2 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2 1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder


Directions

In a pestle and mortar add the dried oregano and cumin seeds and crush well.

Add all ingredients in a spice container (or any container that can seal tightly), mix well and keep in a dark, dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight.

Yields about 1/2 a cup of chilli powder.
