Aqua fresca (strawberry flavored water) recipe

A non-alcoholic, refreshing drink that can be made with almost any kind of fruit you like.
Preparation time: -, Cooking time: -, Serves: 4 


4 cups ice cold drinking water
2 cups fresh strawberries
1/4 cup sugar (use more or less to taste)
2 tsp lime juice
Lime wedges for garnishing


Combine the strawberries, lime juice, sugar and water in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour the mixture into a pitcher or other serving container, add more sugar if desired and serve cold with lime wedges.

Notes and tips

You can substitute the strawberries with any fruit you like, as long as the fruit can be pureed in the blender. You can also pass the pureed mixture through a sieve to get an even smoother result.

How is this "flavored water" if it's made like a smoothie?

This is because of the amount of water used in this recipe. Smoothies do not usually contain water; instead they are made of ice, fruit, sugar and many times yogurt or ice cream.
