Mele cotte recipe

A simple and extremely delicious dessert, Mele Cotte is apples stuffed with raisins, topped with marmelade and sugar and baked in lemon and clove flavored white wine.
Preparation time: 10 minutes, Cooking time: 30 minutes, Serves: 6 

Ingredients

½ cup raisins
½ cup sweet white wine
6 Cortland, Rome or similar apples
2 Tbsp marmalade (strawberry, orange, or any flavor you like)
Sugar for sprinkling the apples
butter, unsalted
1 lemon peel
2 cloves

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Soak the raisins in the wine.
Core the apples.

Butter the bottom of a baking dish. Place apples in the dish and stuff then with the raisins. Top raisins with a teaspoon  of the marmalade. Sprinkle sugar over the apples.

Pour the remaining wine, the lemon peel and cloves in the dish and bake for ½ hour.

Serve with vanila ice cream.
