Affogato,  is a classic Italian dessert or beverage where ice cream is topped with a shot of Espresso coffee. Affogato comes in different variations. In this recipe, vanilla ice cream is topped with Espresso coffee and whipped cream.

Ingredients

1/3 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup strong Espresso
4 scoops good quality vanilla ice cream        

Directions

Prepare the Espresso coffee (you can also use 1 Tbsp instant Espresso powder dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water).

Beat the cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
    
Place 1 scoop of the vanilla ice cream into a tall glass. Top with 2 tablespoons of Espresso and a dollop of whipped cream. Repeat with the remaining 3 servings. Serve immediately.
