Homemade pico de gallo recipe

A basic uncooked Mexican tomato based salsa that can be served as an accompaniment with most Mexican dishes. The main ingredients in the salsa are fresh tomatoes, onion, garlic, coriander and jalapeno chiles. The salsa is best eaten fresh but can be kept for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator.

Ingredients

2 cups diced ripe red tomatoes
1/4 cup diced white onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup chopped cilantro (coriander)
2 jalapeno chiles, stems and seeds removed then diced
2 Tbsp lime juice
1/2 Tbsp olive oil
Salt to taste

Directions

Add all of the ingredients in a bowl and stir well to mix. Refrigerate for at least an hour.

Serve chilled.
