Basic Tiramisu (without whipping cream) recipe Share this recipe on FacebookThis Tiramisu recipe uses raw egg yolks, mascarpone cheese, coffee and
Kahlua or Amaretto. Unlike most Tiramisu recipes, this one does not use
any whipping cream. Instead, it uses double the amount of mascarpone
cheese. Since the eggs are not cooked in this recipe, make sure you use
fresh ones. Preparation time: 15 minutes, Cooking time: 10 minutes, Serves: 6
Ingredients For the mascarpone cream
3 egg yolks
2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups mascarpone cheese
For the coffee mixture
1 cup Espresso coffee, cold
3 Tbsp coffee liqueur (Kahlua or similar) or Amaretto
32 ladyfingers
Cocoa powder for garnish
Directions To make the mascarpone In a bowl whisk the egg yolks with the sugar and the vanilla extract until creamy and pale yellow in color. Add the Mascarpone cheese and mix until you get a smooth mixture.
To make the coffee mixture In a bowl mix the coffee and the liqueur and set aside.
Tiramisu assembly Dip half of the ladyfingers in the coffee mixture, one at a time, and then lay them on a serving dish, one next to the other. Pour over them half of the mascarpone cream and smooth using a spatula.
Repeat the above procedure with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone cream to complete the second layer. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours (preferably overnight).
Garnish with sifted cocoa powder, about 30 minutes before serving.
